Murphy’s Frosted Dog Bones

INGREDIENTS

3 cups old-fashioned oats
1 medium banana
1/3 cup peanut butter
1 large egg
2 Tbsp flour, if necessary
1–2 Tbsp water, if needed

DIRECTIONS

  • Preheat oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.

  • Add 3 cups oats to a food processor and pulse for 30–60 seconds until it’s mostly flour-like with a few bigger bits left. Add 1/3 cup peanut butter, 1/3–1/2 cup mashed banana (1 medium banana), and 1 egg. Blend until a uniform dough forms. If it looks dry, add 1–2 tablespoons water and pulse again.

  • Turn the dough out onto the counter. If it’s sticky, sprinkle with 1–2 tablespoons flour and gently work it in until the dough is easy to handle.

  • Roll out to about 1/8-inch thick, cut into shapes, and place on the baking sheet. Re-roll scraps and repeat until you’ve used all the dough.

  • Bake 16–18 minutes, rotating the pan halfway through. Cool completely before giving to your dog.

FROSTING

½ cup plain Greek yogurt
1 tablespoon cornstarch

  • Whisk until smooth and spread thinly on cooled cookies. Let them air-dry for several hours (or refrigerate). It won’t get rock hard like royal icing, but it firms up nicely.
